Bromley Islamic Centre

About us

A community journey, rooted in faith

From humble gatherings in a village hall to a growing centre of worship and learning, and now towards a permanent masjid for the heart of Bromley.

Our mission

To foster a vibrant and inclusive Muslim community that strives for spiritual growth, supports personal development and positively contributes to society: a nurturing, welcoming environment where people can deepen their faith, seek knowledge and grow in unity, compassion and respect, while reaching out to the wider community.

Our vision

To establish Bromley Islamic Centre as a centre of excellence: inspiring people to embrace their faith, contribute meaningfully to society and serve as ambassadors of Islam.

Our journey

From temporary prayers to lasting roots

  1. The early years

    Prayers in the Village Hall

With no masjid of its own, Bromley’s Muslims gathered for Jumu’ah and classes in temporary venues, most memorably the Village Hall.

  2. A first home

    Brewery Road

A dedicated team bought a house on Brewery Road, the community’s first regular home for daily prayers, Taraweeh, Ramadan iftars and Islamic lessons.

  3. A milestone

    Al Emaan Centre

From Brewery Road, the same team went on to establish Al Emaan Centre in Keston, with generous donations and Qard Hasanah from the community.

  4. Continuing service

    Back at the Village Hall

The same team kept Jumu’ah and gatherings going at the Village Hall, so worshippers in central Bromley never lost their congregation.

  5. Summer 2024

    Bromley Islamic Centre

That same team then made Bromley High Street the home of Bromley Islamic Centre, a growing centre of worship, learning and unity.

  6. The next chapter

    A permanent masjid for Bromley

Our vision now is a permanent central masjid in Bromley North: a home for prayer, education, youth work, sisters’ support, new Muslim care and family guidance.

“Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
— The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Bukhari & Muslim)
